The first Running Hearts green marathon

On 28 May 2017 children’s charity the Naked Heart Foundation will be presenting the first Running Hearts green marathon in partnership with Sberbank. The event organiser is Russian company PODIUM market.

The aim of the event is to collect donations for the development of the Foundation’s early intervention project for small children with developmental disabilities and their families. The project is being implemented under the Every Child Deserves a Family programme. All the funds raised through the Running Hearts race will go to the Naked Heart Foundation.

The race will begin at Moscow’s Sparrow Hills and participants will be able to choose from one of three distances: 3 km, 10 km or 21.1 km. The event is fully inclusive and includes a separate 10-m race for wheelchair-users.

Last year the race took place in 45 cities across 11 time zones, as well a number of cities in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Turkey and Croatia. More than 75,000 people took part and almost 140,000 turned out to watch. The project set the Russian record for sporting events taking place in the largest number of cities in a single day.

You can find additional information [in Russian] about the run on here.
