Dr. Gordana Milavic, MD., F.R.C.Psych., Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist, Maudsley Hospital, Co-Chair of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Section of the World Psychiatric Association, Former Clinical Director of Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, a member of the International Organizing Committee, Co-Chair of the Special Session 1. Child & Adolescent Mental Health on the first Congress day – 7 October, 2016 – delivers a report on National Mental Health Prevention and Service Models for Children&Adolescents.
 
About Dr. Gordana Milavic
Dr. Milavić is a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in the National and Specialist Services at the Maudsley Hospital, London. She has over 30 years of experience in acute clinical practice leading up to her special interest in the study and treatment of depressive and bipolar disorders in children and young people.
From 2006 to 2012 she was the Clinical Director for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services of the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, the largest service for child an adolescent mental health in the UK. She is a teacher and trainer of junior doctors and mental health professionals and lectures in the UK and abroad in her specialist area.
Dr Milavić qualified from the Medical Faculty of the University of Belgrade in 1976. She specialized in psychiatry at Guy’s and St Thomas Hospitals in London. She has been a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in London, UK since 1980 and Fellow since 1996. She was a Board Member of the Special Committee on Professional Practice and Ethics of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, UK for 10 years and continues to contribute to improving quality standards in psychiatry.
She was Chair of the London and South East Branch of the Association of Child and Adolescent Mental Health (ACAMH) UK from 2013-2016.
Dr Milavić’s interest in the organisation of child and adolescent psychiatry services across the world has led to her appointment to the post of Co – Chair of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Section of the World Psychiatric Association (2011 to date).
