Rehabilitation of the Mentally Ill: Intersectoral Collaboration

Within the framework of the 17th Congress of Psychiatrists, the section “Rehabilitation of the Mentally Ill: Intersectoral Collaboration” was held chaired by A.P. Kotsyubinsky, N.B. Lutovoy, T.A. Solokhina and N.V. Treushnikova.

The section discussed a wide range of issues devoted to various aspects of rehabilitation of persons with mental disorders and mental development disorders. The section was attended not only by representatives of the scientific community and practical psychiatric institutions, but also leaders and members of non-profit organizations that have made significant progress in improving the quality of life of people with severe mental illness.

The intersectoral approach made it possible to comprehensively discuss the achievements in the field of rehabilitation, outline the problem points that need to be addressed, and determine the vectors of development. The breadth of the topics presented showed that psychosocial rehabilitation is one of the most dynamically developing areas of psychiatry, an important and integral component of the treatment of mental illness. The presented reports showed that new forms of assistance and effective technologies for rehabilitation and prevention of mental illness are being actively developed and implemented, conceptual approaches are being formed, and, along with specialists of the psychiatric service, non-profit organizations are participating in this work as partners in providing assistance.
