Online All-Russian Interuniversity Scientific Conference “MENTAL HEALTH: MODERN TRENDS & PROSPECTS”

On 10 December the online All-Russian Interuniversity Scientific Conference “Mental Health: Modern Trends & Prospects” was held.
 
The Conference was aimed at raising awareness on mental health via presentation of modern approaches to prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of mental and behavioral disorders among senior students at medical universities in Russia. It served also for developing networks and cooperation in mental health field between Russian universities and improving attitudes to psychiatry as a one of the leading sciences in mental health.
 
The Conference was organized by Altay State Medical University (Barnaul), Mechnikov North-Western State Medical University (Saint-Petersburg), Razumovsky Saratov State Medical University (Saratov), and Union for Mental Health of Russia (Moscow).
 
The key-note report “Present and the Future of Psychiatry” was presented by Professor Norman Sartorius, MD, PhD, FRCPsych, President, Association for the Improvement of Mental Health Programmes (AMH).
 
Modern approaches to the prevention, diagnosis, therapy and rehabilitation of mental and behavioral disorders were presented also by Natalia Treushnikova, President, Union for Mental Health of Russia; Irina Sheremetieva, Acting Rector of the Altay State Medical University, MD, Professor, Chair of the Department of Psychiatry, Medical Psychology and Narcology, Chief Child Psychiatrist of the Ministry of Health of the Altay Krai; Sergey Artyushkin, Deputy Rector of the Mechnikov North-Western State Medical University, MD, Professor; Yulia Barylnik, Chair of the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology, Psychotherapy and Clinical Psychology of the Razumovsky Saratov State Medical University, MD, Professor, Chief Child Psychiatrist of the Ministry of Health of the Saratov Oblast;  Vladimir Borodin, MD, Professor of the Methodological Department & a member of the Problem Council for Clinical and Social Psychiatry at the Serbsky Federal Medical Research Center for Psychiatry and Narcology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Vice-President of the Union for Mental Health of Russia; Alexander Stroganov, MD, Director of the Institute on Clinical Psychology & Professor of the Department of Psychiatry, Medical Psychology and Narcology at the Altay State Medical University; Evgeny Abritalin, MD, Chair of the Department on Psychotherapy, Medical Psychology and Sexology at the Mechnikov North-Western State Medical University, Professor of the Department of Neurology and Psychiatry at the Institute of Medical Education of the Almazov National Medical Research Center & the Department of Psychiatry at the Kirov Military Medical Academy; Marina Gorodnova, MD, Professor of the Department on Psychotherapy, Medical Psychology and Sexology at the Mechnikov North-Western State Medical University, psychotherapist of the highest category, gestalt therapist, Сhair of the St. Petersburg branch of the Association of Child Psychiatrists and Psychologists and the other Russian researchers.
 
The conference also discussed the development of forms of inter-University communication and cooperation between senior students of medical Universities in Russia, increasing the prestige of psychiatry and other medical specialties in the field of mental health.
