5th International Conference of Psychotraumatology and Mediation (5ICPM – 2017)

The 5th International Conference of Psychotraumatology and Mediation (5ICPM – 2017) will be hold on 22-24 November in Geneva. It has the theme of “Wars, Trauma, Migration and global mental Health” and will be held for first time in Geneva, the headquarters of the United Nations for human rights , WHO, HCR , ICR, UNICEF and WPA.

The organizer expects that this international conference will bring together participants from around the world to share experiences in research and policy to help the well-being of children and other vulnerable groups who are affected by psychosocial trauma resulting from wars, conflicts and massive migrations. The theme is particularly important at a time when conflict brings many fluxes of migration and refugees in developed and developing countries.

Prof Dinesh Bhugra, President, World Psychiatric Association (WPA), in the welcome speech to the participants underscores that “he is very much hope that this conference will act as potential nucleus for researchers and policymakers to get together to develop services and policies which will help and support vulnerable groups affected. Through the development of International Network for associations and institutions involved in the charges of victims of war, refugees, as well as civil populations. He is delighted that the University of Geneva, the Geneva University Hospitals, the IPM-International executive committee, the scientific committee of the 5ICPM-2017 and others co-sponsors are supporting this congress to build this network and to assist the humanitarian institutions, association and professionals in the Care, Prevention and Justice, Mediation and Conflict management of wars and conflicts and mental health’s conditions that are caused. World Psychiatric Association has nearly a quarter of million psychiatrists as its members and we are committed to improving patient care and this conference provides a welcome forum to develop this further in collaboration with other organizations. He wishes the conference all success and very much hope that academic and policy aspects will not only stimulate the participants but also encourage further closer working and partnerships.
