Prof. Roy Abraham Kallivayalil is MBBS from Govt Med College, Kottayam, DPM from Govt Madurai Medical College, MD (Psych) Post Graduate Institute of Medical Edu & Research, Chandigarh and Membership of National Academy of Medical Sciences (India) New Delhi.
Since 2014 Prof. Roy Abraham Kallivayalil has an appointment as a WPA Secretary General. Also Prof. Roy Abraham Kallivayalil is Vice-Principal, Professor&Head, Dept. of Psychiatry at Pushpagiri Institute of Medical Sciences (Tiruvalla, Kerala), President-elect of the World Association of Social Psychiatry (London), Chairman, Ethics Committee of the Indian Psychiatric Society (New Delhi), since 2013 International Distinguished Fellowship of American Psychiatric Association, a Member of the Editorial Board, “World Psychiatry” Journal (Naples, Italy), a Member of the Editorial Board, International Journal of Person-Centered Medicine, a Member of the Board of the Asian Federation of Psychiatric Associations, a Member of the American Psychiatric Association Caucus on Global Mental Health, President of the National Alliance for Mental Health (NAMH), India and a Member of the Central Working Committee, Indian Medical Association New Delhi.
Prof. Roy Abraham Kallivayalil has impressive awards& honours list: Govt of Kerala Best Doctor Award (2007), Honorary Fellowship of World Association for Social Psychiatry- Lisbon (2013), World Psychiatric Association- Prev Psych Section- JK Trivedi Memorial Lecture Award (2013), Indian Association for Social Psychiatry- BB Sethi Award-1 (2011), GC Boral Award for the Best Research Paper- Indian Association for Social Psychiatry-2010, SAARC Psychiatric Federation Award, Kathmandu (2006), Ramachandra N. Moorthy National Award for distinguished service in the field of Psychiatry for the year 1998-99 by Indian Medical Association, New Delhi, IMA CGP National award for health administration – Indian Medical Association (2000), IMA Academy of Medical Specialities National Award, New Delhi for Best Secretary (1997), 1JS Sathydas Oration Award for distinguished service in medical education (2008), Founding Fellow, International College for Person Centered Med (ICPCM), New York. Prof. Roy Abraham Kallivayalil is the author of “Suicide Prevention: A handbook for Community Gatekeepers” in 2009 (published by National Alliance for Mental Health, India), also he has authored and co- authored over 36 scientific publications.
Prof. Roy Abraham Kallivayalil took part in two broad researches: World Health Organisation- Dept of Mental Health Field Study for ICD-11 and Indian Psychiatric Society- multicentric study on assessment of health care needs of patients with severe mental illnesses.
