Yulia S.Shoygu, Director of the Center of Emergency Psychological Aid EMERCOM of Russia,has joined the Organizing Committee of the I World Congress on Mental Health

Yulia S. Shoygu, Director of the Center of Emergency Psychological Aid EMERCOM of Russia, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, has joined the Organizing Committee of the I World Congress on Mental Health: Meeting the Needs of the XXI Century.

Yulia S. Shoygu graduated from Moscow State University, Department of Psychology. In 2003 she earned and defended a thesis on a topic “Aptitude screening of cadets of the Ministry of Emergency Situations’ higher education institutions – future rescuers (Theoretical underpinning of Psychognostic Tools)”.

In 1999 she started her career at the Center of Emergency Psychological Aid EMERCOM of Russia of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. In 2002 she was appointed to the position of Director of the Center.

Yulia Sergeyevna participated in provision of psychological counselling to victims of terrorist attacks, hostage situations, after technological disasters in Moscow, after Sakhalin earthquakes, Irkutsk air disaster, Kursk submarine disaster and in other emergency situations in Russia and abroad. She was awarded the Medal II Class of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland.

Yulia Sergeyevna is the author of scientific papers devoted to psychology of emergency situations psychology, as well as the textbook “Emergency Situations Psychology” (Manual for graduate students).
