Nicole Aknin, Rector of the Sigmund Freud University Paris, a member of the International Organizing Committee, with Welcome address to the Congress participants

Aknin Nicole (Paris, France), Professor psychoanalyst, Rector of the Sigmund Freud University Paris, Executive member of the World Council for Psychotherapy and the European Association for Psychotherapy, Vice President of European Confederation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy.

“Where love ruled, there is no will to power; where power predominates there love is lacking. The one is the shadow of other” Carl Gustav Jung said.
When we observe the state of our world today, we can say that one of the causes of conflicts come from the will of power. Is it not one of big delusion we nourish as citizen?
We know that power is in link with the need of competition babies develop to grow from fusion to individualization? It’s a useful reaction for psychological survival. This psychological reaction is often visible in human being as a compulsion of repetition (cf Sigmund Freud).

The need today is to grow enough to let the competition go and choose cooperation. Is it not an essential shift in the spiral of species evolution?
If we take, as an example, the process of a caterpillar turning into a chrysalis and then into a butterfly, scientists show that it’s only when the majority cells of a chrysalis turn from competition to cooperation, the transformation can be achieved.

In this space the I World Congress on Mental Health offers to us, we could explore the question about the need of cooperation and take the symbol of Chrysalis as a possibility of quantum shift inside of us and, afterward, develop creative ideas to create heart-aligned community to successfully evolve toward a new future.

Welcome with us for an exciting adventure experience for the best of everyone and the whole.
